The first LPs released by MFSL were a series of classical music by the Mystic Moods Orchestra.  For those that are fine connoisseurs of music know that classical music is widely held as the most intricate and detailed of all music.  The half speed mastering of MFSL LP's really shines in classical music.  None the less, it is usually not a widely sought after music form and the true break for MFSL would come with the more secular widely loved genres.

The first release that received a lot of attention was the finishing of Supertramp's Crime of the Century.  A truly classic album on just about anyone's list of the the best rock albums of all time, Crime of the Century was a huge hit among audiophiles and was the first album that put MFSL on the music map.  Subsequent releases of Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd albums were also widely accepted.  And few would argue that the Dark Side of the Moon or Fleetwood Mac's self titled 2nd album also aren't considered among the greatest of all time.  These albums all were recorded in super high fidelity by half speed mastering which brings the uber high quality to the masses.

With all that as a backdrop it was not until the release of a 13 album box set of the venerable Beatles that MFSL finally became a household name in audiophile circles.  Using the original master recordings from the famed Abbey Road Studio.  Using these master recordings and mastering at half speed it was a nirvana of music that came out the back door.  Beatles fans were blown away with the immaculate sound, and just about every audiophile stood up and took notice.  On top of this, the use of "virgin" vinyl left an air of authenticity to the releases and the entire company and line was well on its way.

It wasn't until 1987 that Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs decide to release albums on CD.  The MFSL CDs are the top of the line and are well regarded in their own right.
