Days of Future Past MFSL CD

Perhaps no other rock band has had the longevity of the Moody Blues.  The Moody Blues is one of the most recorded band from Mobile Fidelity.  The Moody Blues recorded eight recordings on the MFSL platform.  The first Moody Blues MFSL is Days of Future Past.   Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab recorded Days of Future Past was rereleased by MFSL in 1981.

Days of Future Past is the second full length album recorded by the Moody Blues.  This is without a question one of the best recordings in rock history.  The Moody Blues simply do not get enough credit for the innovation that they have brought the the rock and roll scene.  Days of Future Past features some of the classic songs of all time.  The tracks include:

  1. "The Day Begins" (Peter Knight & The Moody Blues) / "Morning Glory" (Graeme Edge) (unlisted track) – 5:51
  2. Dawn: "Dawn is a Feeling" (Mike Pinder) – 3:49
  3. The Morning: "Another Morning" (Ray Thomas) – 3:56
  4. Lunch Break: "Peak Hour" (John Lodge) – 5:29
  5. The Afternoon: "Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?)" (Justin Hayward) - 8:23 (contains the unlisted track "(Evening) Time to Get Away", composed by Lodge)
  6. Evening: "The Sunset" (Pinder) / "Twilight Time" (Thomas) – 6:40
  7. The Night: "Nights in White Satin" (Hayward) / "Late Lament" (Graeme Edge) (unlisted track) - 7:39

The highlight of the album is the Moody Blues most famous song Nights in White Satin.  This song has some unique features that is not typical of a all time great.  This song climbed all the way to #2 in the charts, however, it did not happen until 5 yeas after the song was released.  Interesting enough the bands most famous recording was almost doomed from the beginning.  The famous lines such as:  "the smell of grass makes you pass into a dream" brought substantial criticism to the band as they were associated with the drug movement of the sixties.

The recording of Days of Future past is one of the best recordings produced on the MFSL platform.  The orchestral music of the Moody Blues are perfectly suited for the MFSL platform and give the listener an incredible sound experience.
