Quadrophenia MFSL
The Who - Quadrophenia MFSL
This is truly one of the greatest recordings ever produced by the Who. The MFSL version of Quadrophenia is a unique listening experience that cannot be heard on a out of the box, mass produced recording. This recording has been named as one of the top albums of all time according to Q magazine, VH1 and Rolling Stone Magazine. The second of the rock operas released by the WHO, Quadrophenia tells the story of Jimmy Cooper in the 1964 circa Mod era. Each of the members of the band take prominent roles in the rock opera including most appropriately Kieth Moon as a lunatic.
Listening to the intro - I Am The Sea - you can immediately hear that the MFSL version of this CD is special. The depth of the sound of the waves splashing against the rocks is quite incredible. Laucnching into Real Me, the recording quality of this the Who MFSL really helps one hear the subtle riffs of John Entwhistle that so very few basists could master. As the story progresses song like Bell Boy and 5:15 give the sense that you are listening to a live concert performance from the WHO. Finally as the rain begins to fade and the Love Reign Over Me is listened to the MFSL signature clarity really begins to shine. Each instrument comes to life in one of the greatest songs the band ever recorded.
This is my favorite recording from the Who. This recording brings out the best of each of the members of the band. The powerful vocals of Daltry are featured on Love Reign Over Me and 5:15. The amazing base play shows up in songs like Real Me and I Am One. The unbelievalbe talented drum rifts of Moon are prevalent in the whole album. The story itself written by Pete Townshend is a testomonial to his contribution on the album.
If you have a high quality cd player the depth of sound comes to live in the gold ultradisk version of Quadrophenia. I highly recommend this recording to anyone that is a fan of the Who or simply want to hear what a very high quality recording on a CD should sound like.
